Now that we’re in the midst of a long hot summer, you might be struggling to manage your skin and skincare routine with all of this heat and longer days spent in the sun. Since you are exposed to the elements more regularly than you might be during the colder months of the year, you might be wondering, do I need a facial and how often should I be get one in the summer?
Summertime is a great time for a facial!
Summer is one of the best times to get a facial because it can focus on repairing and protecting your skin from results of increased sun exposure, hotter temperatures and a more active lifestyle. Your skin really takes a beating from the sun and while we protect it with sunblock, certain SPF’s can easily clog pores and lead to major breakouts. A summer facial will reset skin by clearing out the sunscreen and makeup residue that builds up over time. Here in Orange County our skin is exposed to a dry heat that can make our skin feel (and look) like a piece of parchment paper (especially with this recent heat wave!). The plumpness and dewiness fades and the fine, dehydrated lines appear. Sure, consuming more water during the summer goes without saying to keep your fluid levels up and a more hydrated and plump complexion, but that is not enough. What you apply on your skin can have a huge effect. Our TRU Oxygen Hydration facial is ideal for dehydrated skin. It is designed to re-hydrate and soften skin, and to restore elasticity – making it the perfect mid-summer treatment.
If your summer as been anything like mine then it’s filled with lots of activities, beach days, and family fun in the sun. All of this summer fun can leave our skin needing a little pick me up, so make sure you come in after that camping trip filled with hikes, sunburns, and sweaty foreheads, or after that long weekend spent laying out on the beach. Summertime is all about fun in the sun, just don’t forget to stop and show some love to you skin with a Tru Skin Rituals custom facial!
How often should I come in for a facial?
In the summer, you should come in for a treatment about 4 weeks. This will reset and de-stress the skin and also allow it to recover before your next appointment. However, if your busy schedule doesn’t allow for you to make it that frequently, then try to get a facial at least once during the summer season and one again right before autumn. So book online and schedule an appointment today because it looks like this heat wave will be sticking around all through August and September!
